Taxes are complicated.
Your next step doesn't have to be.
Tax Help asks a few plain questions about your work, school, and income, then helps you understand which tax benefits might be worth investigating, which documents to gather, and what to do next — explained in everyday language, not tax jargon.
Personalized to your situation — not generic advice
Points you to official IRS and state sources
Documents you may need
- W-2 from employer
- 1098-T tuition statement

Topics that may be worth investigating
Did you pay any tuition or fees out of pocket in 2025, separate from what scholarships covered?

Who it's for
Tax Help is built for people navigating their taxes without a dedicated accountant — wherever you're starting from.
College students
Navigating tuition payments, scholarships, and part-time or on-campus work for the first time.
Recent graduates
Managing their first full-time job, a new W-2, and benefits elections that affect their taxes.
Employees
Trying to make sense of their tax documents and whether they're missing potential benefits.
Freelancers & side hustlers
Managing additional 1099 income alongside a job, school, or other work.
Trust & privacy
Tax Help is an early, hackathon-stage project. Here's what we're designing toward — and an honest look at what's implemented today.
Where things stand right now
The assessment currently collects questionnaire answers and stores progress in this browser's localStorage. When you view results, validated facts are sent to server-side Gemini routes for adaptive wording; the API key stays on the server. Sign-in uses Auth0 when configured. Rules currently cover the 2025 tax year only. Do not enter Social Security numbers or other sensitive identifiers.
Grounded in official sources
Guidance is designed to reference IRS publications and relevant state tax resources rather than relying on AI judgment alone.
We ask when we're not sure
When important information is missing, Tax Help is designed to ask a follow-up question rather than assume an answer.
Possible vs. confirmed
We aim to clearly distinguish tax benefits that may be worth investigating from confirmed eligibility, which only a filed return can establish.
Careful with your information
We intend to treat the personal and financial details you share with care as the product develops beyond this early version.
